Annual gross salary for the above position ranges between 10,43,000 to 16,60,000.

Job Purpose:

To facilitate effective communications, outreach and social mobilization campaigns in IPPF South Asia Region (SAR).

Key Tasks:

  • To support other Programme Officers (for abortion, Adolescents, AIDS and Access) in planning and implementation of the communications, outreach, social mobilization, and information, education & communication (IEC)/behavior change and communication (BCC) components of the SARO strategic Plan.
  • To provide Member Associations (MAs) with communication and media advice, technical support and information
  • To ensure all messages disseminated by the IPPF SAR MAs are based on the gender and rights framework, IPPF values and messaging guidelines
  • To manage the publications process, including development of publications' design briefs, timelines and budgets with appropriate technical staff, coordination of research, content and graphics components of the publications process and liaison with external agencies, printers and translators
  • To ensure IPPF SARO and MA publications, office stationery etc. adhere to the IPPF branding Guidelines.
  • To be responsible fot the creative content during events such as campaign launched, exhibitions, conferences and receptions including liaison with external vendors and organizations
  • To assist in media work where appropriate, formulate press releases, features, opeds and provide support on the development of the website
  • To coordinate communications and media training for SARO and MA staff and volunteers
  • To be the focal point for communications work in the Region with Central Office (CO), London and SAR MAs, including external relationships, coalitions, conferences, events etc
  • To bring together and make available the knowledge of various actors in the field of sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) communications, outreach and social mobilization
  • To ensure that any intervention in an MA is undertaken in collaboration with the Directors (Country)
  • To build and maintain positive working relationships with all members of staff and contacts both within and outside the Federation.
  • To undertake any other reasonable duties as may be requested from time to time.
Responsibilities:

  1. Staff responsibilities carried out by the job holder - NA
  2. Financial responsibilities carried out by the job holder: Responsible for SARO communications and campaigns
  3. Advisory responsibilities carried out by the job holder: a) Advice POs, RD and Directors on media issues, communications and campaigns b) Advice MAs on technical issues related to communications and campaigns
Education and Qualifications:

Post graduate qualification in communications/marketing/PR

Professional Experience:

  • 5 years experience in external communications initiatives and organizing specific activities/campaigns for IEC, BCC, outreach, social mobilization etc.
  • Familiarity with all publishing processes, including liaison with printers, design issues, editing and proofing
  • Experience of working to raise awareness and profile of an issue among communities
  • Background/understanding og development issues desirable.

  • Excellent communications skills (both verbal and written)
  • Production and publishing knowledge about external materials. Experience of overseeing the design and production of publications
  • Ability to develop new mechanisms and channels of communication for greater effectiveness to multiple audiences
  • Competent in managing multiple campaigns and communications outreach to tight deadlines
  • Competent in taking complex and politically sensitive issues to a broad range of audiences and through a variety of communications channels
  • Strong knowledge of the workings of the press and good media practice
  • Ability to oversee website project management and development of content
  • Fluent in English and other language(s) spoken in the SAR.
  • Understanding of development issues
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills to meet multiple deadlines
  • Good IT skills - ability to use MS Office. database skills desirable
