FPA India Vision and Mission

 

FPA India, believes that secual and reproductive rights are internationally recognised human rights and as such, should be guaranteed for and exercised by everyone.

FPA India, further believes that:

  • Development is the key to empower people to exercise their sexual and reproductive rights
  • Poverty is the root cause of under development
  • There are close linkages between sexual and reproductive health and poverty and between demographic change and development
  • Alleviation of extreme poverty and hunger, a goal envisaged in the UN Millennium Development Declaration, can be achieved when population stabilisation and reproductive health concerns are addressed in right earnest.

FPA India, is committed to gender equity and to eliminating discrimination which threatens individual well-being and leads to wide spread violation of health and human rights particularly of adolescents and young women.

FPA India, values the spirit of volunteerism which is the driving force in achieving its mandate and advancing its cause.

Vision

FPA India, envisions a future where exercising the right to sexual and reproductive health by all individuals and couples including adolescents and young persons contributes towards population stabilisation leading to a reduction in proverty and a better quality of life.

Mission

FPA India, endeavors to strengthen a voluntary and non-governmental commitment to promote sexual and reproductive health and rights including family planning. It strives to support a women's right to opt for legal and safe abortion, reduc the spread and impact of STIs/HIV/AIDS and protect people especially adolescent and young from unprotected sex, unwanted pregnancy, violence, discrimination and abuse.
