Looking Ahead

Overall project success HAS resulted in both FPAN and FPAB demonstrating strong commitment to ensuring that project activities are sustained at both local and national levels.

Both FPAN and FPAB have plans in place to support project sustainability and have committed core funds to support the continuation of project activities in the project areas. For example, FPAB has committed US$ 20,000 from its core funds for 2008. In addition, both MAs intend to mainstream project activities: FPAN will scale up project activities in 14 new clinics and FPAB plan to replicate project activities at 28 new service delivery points. The activities will include all key activities e.g. capacity building of service providers, introduction of screening systems, MOUs with partners for referral for ongoing specialised care and support.

As a revolving fund, the micro-credit fund will continue in both countries in existing project sites. As a follow up activity, FPAN will support a study to identify the strengths and weakness of the micro-credit programme while continuing to provide small scale loans to survivors on a group or individual basis.

The important groundwork in building momentum for national level advocacy against GBV will also continue. FPAN will continue to act as the Secretariat to the National Coalition against GBV and coordinate future activities. FPAB proposes to introduce activities to raise awareness of GBV related issues in its adolescent and youth programmes and continue to support community level activities in project areas declared Zero Tolerance Zones.

“The GBV Project demonstrated lots of good practices that will be replicated.” Md. Gias Uddin, GBV Project Manager, FPAB

“There has perhaps been no other project like this in Nepal to address GBV. Therefore, this project has ushered in a new era. ” Dr. Giridhari Sharma Paudel, Programme Director, FPAN.
