HUQ - The Project Newsletter

HUQ, the biennial project newsletter was launched to provide regular highlights of the GBV project. The newsletter was aimed at raising awareness of the importance of addressing gender based violence within a sexual and reproductive health framework. By disseminating information to key regional stakeholders through HUQ, the hope was to highlight the ways in which healthcare providers can support women experiencing or vulnerable to violence in the home.

HUQ has been widely disseminated and has helped to increase project awareness of national, regional and global audiences. A total of 8000 copies of HUQ were printed and distributed. It has also been translated into Nepali by FPAN.

HUQ” in Urdu means ‘rights’, ‘lawful claim’, ‘justice’, or ‘rectitude’. Originally, a Persian word, it is now commonly used in the Indian sub continent, and therefore translates well into both Nepali and Bangla.
