Ms. Susmita Das – Director

Susmita Das has a Masters in Public Health (MPH) from the Johns Hopkins School of Public Health, USA, a Masters degree in Sociology from the Delhi School of Economics, India and a Bachelors degree in Sociology from Presidency College, Calcutta, India. She is a Gates Scholar. Susmita has over ten years of experience working on HIV/AIDS and reproductive health issues in India with national and international NGOs, bilateral agencies and government programmes. Susmita has experience in designing and managing reproductive health programmes and HIV prevention as well as care and support programs in India. Susmita has extensive experience working with adolescents and young people on reproductive health issues and HIV/AIDS programmess. Her core areas of competence include technical and creative writing, programme and financial planning and management, advocacy and behavior change communication. Since 1998, she worked with a number of organizations including the Child In Need Institute (CINI), one of four national NGOs in India, the German Technical Cooperation Agency (GTZ), Family Health International (FHI) and EngenderHealth. She was also the FHI Country Coordinator for the Protection of Human Subjects Committee and is a certified trainer on Research Ethics. Before joining IPPF, she was working with the Johns Hopkins University, Center for Communications Programs (JHU CCP), India Office as Associate Director – Programmes.
